Compare
Looking for an Arccos alternative? Here is how GolfStack compares.
Arccos is the most data-driven golf app on the market. Smart sensors in every grip capture every shot, and the app turns that into Strokes Gained analytics. It is a premium product for serious data-hungry amateurs.
GolfStack does not use shot sensors. It uses your phone and your memory — hole-by-hole logging plus one mental-game prompt per hole. Here is when each fits, and why most amateurs are better served by the lighter approach.
Competitor
Arccos
Sensor-based shot tracking for every shot.
Strengths
- Captures every shot automatically — no manual entry
- Strokes Gained analytics built from real shot data
- Smart Distances by club, from real on-course data
- A.I. Caddie for in-round club recommendations
Limitations
- Sensors cost $200+ on top of the subscription
- Battery and connectivity issues occasionally lose shots
- You must remember to use the right grip for the right club
- Data-heavy but not narrative — most users do not change behaviour from the dashboard
Arccos Caddie is about $100/year, plus the sensor hardware. Total first-year outlay is around $300.
GolfStack

- AI coaching narrative replaces the dashboard with a coaching story
- Mental Game Profile that Arccos does not measure at all
- Consistency Score gives a single number Arccos does not provide
- Free tier is fully functional; Pro is $39/year (versus $300 all-in for Arccos)
Limitations
- Manual entry takes 20 seconds per hole
- No automatic Strokes Gained calculations
- No per-shot tracking
Free covers unlimited round logging. Pro is $4.99/mo or $39/yr.

The honest verdict
Choose Arccos if you are a data-hungry amateur who wants Strokes Gained at the shot level, you do not mind spending around $300 in year one, and you will stick with a dashboard-driven approach to improvement.
Choose GolfStack if you want coaching insight without sensors, you care about the mental game, and you prefer a single Consistency Score and a narrative over a dashboard. GolfStack costs about 1/8 of Arccos for the first year.
You can also use both — Arccos for shot tracking on rounds you want maximum data on, GolfStack for AI coaching and mental game tracking on every round. The two are not incompatible.
FAQ
Does GolfStack work without internet?
You can log a full round offline. The AI coaching story syncs and generates when you reconnect.
Can I move my Arccos data into GolfStack?
Not yet. We are working on an Arccos CSV importer. Until then, you can manually log key rounds to build a starter history.
Will GolfStack support shot sensors in the future?
Not on our roadmap. We are betting on phone-based hole-level logging plus stronger AI coaching, which is a cheaper, lighter approach. If sensor-based tracking is essential to you, Arccos is the right product.
